Gav Baskerville
Gav plays the Drums in Glam45.
Gav started playing the drums as a teenager in the early 1980s with a New Wave of British
Heavy Metal band called Arena.
The band was short-lived and following their demise, he went on
to drum for several local rock outfits
up to 1987, when he joined Glam45 guitarist Dave Airey in Sweet
Addiction. 3 successful singles, an album and a glut of memorable tours followed until Sweet
Addiction disbanded in the early 1990s.
The drummer’s glam rock career took off in 1994 when he hooked-up with Glitterband founder member, John Rossall. As sticks man for John Rossall’s Glitterband, Gav played all over the country and abroad in prestigious venues, including British tours with Slade and Andy Scott’s Sweet. During this time, Gav also banged the skins for reformed 70's punk outfit V2; touring with The Drones and performing at the huge punk revival festivals in the late 90s. He left these bands to move to Scandinavia in 1998.
On his return to Manchester in the new millennium, Gav joined Indie rockers Nusonic and then formed Doom
Metal merchants Damnation’s Hammer with ex-Dearly Beheaded bassist, Tim Preston. They recorded one album
that was well received by the metal press.
Gav took a short break from playing until
he received a call to fill in on some covers gigs in 2013. He’s now back behind his kit with Glam45 and thoroughly enjoying putting the Wig Wam Bam back into glam once again!
